Lenten Studies

"God, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you." ---St. Augustine

Lent is coming! February 14th (Ash Wednesday) -- April 1st (Easter Sunday)

During the liturgical season of Lent, Christians around the world pause to prepare their hearts and minds to remember the death, resurrection and new life available now through Jesus. The season is 6 weeks long and provides an opportunity to “recalibrate” our hectic, busy lives around our heart’s deepest longing.

The Discipleship Steering Committee is offering several possibilities:

Engage in small group gatherings based on a popular video series about prayer. Author and pastor Mark Batterson presents a study called “Draw the Circle 40 Day Prayer Challenge.”  Each group will meet 3-5 times during Lent to grow together in fellowship, faith and prayer.

Begin considering whether this might be just the jumpstart you need in your life with God. No expert knowledge is required for hosting a group or participating. Venues may include homes, the Lillian Martin Room at the church, and other nearby locations.

2) Interested in the study, but need flexible scheduling? You can participate from the comfort of your own home via the internet. Use this website to get started: Draw the Circle

Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John is a six-week journey into deeper intimacy with God through praying with the words of John, the disciple who wrote the books of John, I, II and III John, and Revelations.

An optional journal inspires meditation on a daily verse from John, encouraging participants to respond through words, images, or however the Spirit leads.

Subscribe online to receive a daily short video on the daily Gospel verse, having a relationship with Jesus, and possibilities for further reflection. For more information or to sign up, follow this link:

Instead of giving up sweets this year for Lent, join thousands of others who will be giving up using our words wrongly instead.

Join Karen Ehman for the #DoingLentTogether community on Facebook inspired by her 40-day devotional, Zip It!  It begins on February 14 and continues through March 31.
