Our Mission Committee’s focus for November 2021 is on Ethiopia and our mission partners in that African country. For the entire month, the Ethiopian flag will be displayed on our chancel.
As regional liaison for the Horn of Africa, Sharon Kandel facilitates support for the relationships, programs and activities of PC(USA) partners in Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan. She also mentors and encourages PC(USA) mission personnel and helps connect partner churches with PC(USA) congregations that want to be involved in partnerships in the region. This work includes helping to facilitate and develop these partnerships with the goal of fostering faithfulness, mutuality and effectiveness. Sharon also advises and resources the staffs of the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan’s education, finance and administration departments, which support the South Sudan Education and Peacebuilding Project.
