Prayer is at the heart of worship. In prayer, through the Holy Spirit, people seek after and are found by the one true God who has been revealed in Jesus Christ. They listen and wait upon God, call God by name, remember God’s gracious acts, and offer themselves to God. Prayer may be spoken, sung, offered in silence, or enacted. Prayer grows out of the center of a person’s life in response to the Spirit. Prayer is shaped by the Word of God in Scripture and by the life of the community of faith. Prayer issues in commitment to join God’s work in the world.

Worship
Here at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church we refer to our worship as “blended,” which is our way of discribing the mixture of classical, traditional, and contemporary music we employ in the singing of our prayers and the proclmation of scripture. The preached word is an important part of our weekly worship.
The service begins on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour. Leadership of our worship is offered by our pastoral staff, elders, deacons, and members of the congregation. Our Chancel Choir and Worship Team are mainstays in leading our prayers, but other groups and ensembles — including several bell choirs — also lend us their gifts from time to time.
A nursery for infants and toddlers is provided in the northeast corner of the building, where nursery staff and volunteers provide a safe enviroment during worship.
Children’s Church begins halfway through the worship service, and is a time for children age 3 up through 3rd grade to depart worship and engage in scripture-teaching at an age appropriate level. Children’s Church is taught by volunteers from the congregation.
Want to place flowers in worship in honor or memory of someone? A sign-up list for flowers on the bulletin board at the southeast entrance of the building, next to the church library.
Faith Formation
Join us at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday in the fall and spring for several Adult Sunday School opportunities. We host a nursery for children under 3 years old, children’s classes for toddler and elementary-age kids, two middle school classes and a senior high class.
Come gather with us for faith formation and fellowship.
