What is Gather For Good?: New Wilmington Presbyterian Church’s capital campaign, starting in 2023, to renovate our social hall, add air conditioning to our sanctuary, and support mission projects.
Capital Needs
Since the cornerstone for NWPC’s current facility was laid in 1885, there have been many enhancements, but none of large scale since an education wing was added more than 50 years ago. While our building has ample space for both congregational growth and the extension of our service, there is a great need for significant renovation projects that will enhance our ability to welcome others, allow for outreach in the community around us, and connect with new generations of believers.
These enhancements include air conditioning for the sanctuary, including new electrical service, and renovations to the social hall, which will include new restrooms, a better functioning sewage draining system, and aesthetic upgrades, such as lighting, flooring, and furniture.

Gather With Purpose
The name of our capital campaign is “Gather for Good,” but where we gather –– our church building –– is not an end in itself. Having a beautiful church is of no value to the world unless that space advances the great ends of the Church: shining God’s all-encompassing light and love and spreading God’s word. The renovations and additions resulting from this capital campaign have been created for those two purposes. They seek to enhance our abilities to worship, to serve, and to make disciples. The social hall, in particular, is a vital space where the following events take place:
- Congregational fellowship.
- Youth programs.
- Family gatherings / receptions.
- Community dinners and other public events.
- Meetings and conferences.
Gather By Giving
While lump-sum donations are gladly accepted, gifts for the Gather for Good capital campaign can be made by pledging money to be paid over three years. Although a few large gifts will help us fund the renovations, most gifts are anticipated to come from households who prayerfully consider and provide three annual contributions of 5% of their household income.
